Jeans hero returns with Rajakota Rahasyam
“You remember seeing only my two popular films Chamanti and Jeans here but henceforth you will lose count of the number of films I will be acting in,” says Tamil-Telugu hero Prashant. He has a point, he is craving to different genres of cinema after being confined to one movie for five years. His father and director, producer Thiagarajan had embarked on an ambitious and a grandiose project that took two years in planning and three years to execute it. Ponnar Shankar released in 2011 is being dubbed in Telugu and is apparently an adaptation of Karunanidhi’s novel carrying the same name. Prashant is from the third generation in the family and for him being a part of a good and a memorable project means lot more than the money. He recalls the day they held a show for the media in Chennai and all of them gave a standing ovation to the director, the producer and says confidently that Rahasyam(rajakota) will give the same feel that one gets while watching Troy or Gladiator, be it the visual Splendour or the making of the film. “Every actor has a milestone, ten years down the line I will be proud of being associated with an epic film. As a child I read Amarchitra Katha and today I realised my dream of being part of such a historical story.” Why haven’t you made it in 3D? “Not this time, we are already done with most of the work and maybe two years down the line. Right now after the film releases I want to do lot of character driven films. It’s time for me to dance, fight, and I will do straight Telugu films. I’m remaking Naan in Hindi and I will be working in it.”
