Sanjay Dutt prepares to go to jail for three-and-a-half years, what happens to the films he has lined up for 2013 and 2014? The actor, who was handed a five year sentence for his part in the 1993 Bombay blasts, has also been given four weeks in which to surrender. The remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1973 hit film Zanjeer features Sanjay Dutt in the role of Sher Khan, a reformed gambling den owner and loyal friend of the central character, Inspector Vijay Shrivastav. Sher Khan was played by actor Pran in the original film. Dutt's conviction is unlikely to give the new Zanjeer's director Apoorva Lakhia sleepless nights as the film has been wrapped and is in post-production. The remake also stars Priyanka Chopra and Telugu actor Ram Charan Teja and will release in May.Similarly safe are Rajkumar Hirani's Peekay, which features Sanjay Dutt in a supporting role, and Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, in which he has a cameo. Sanjay Dutt has finished shooting for both films. Peekay, starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, releases in 2014. Ghanchakkar, featuring odd couple Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi, is out this June.
The fate of Policegiri, starring Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai, is unclear. The film is believed to be shooting currently in Hyderabad and Chennai. Policegiri producer T P Aggarwal told IANS, "Just 12 to 15 days shoot is left. I am not keen to talk about the budget for the film, but it should be around Rs 25 crore. But as I said before, I am not bothered about the film, I am only worried about Sanjay Dutt.
